Aviva Tagya, 40, a mother of five, was killed this morning (Sunday) when she was hit by a truck on Highway 6 near the Nachshonim Interchange.
The deceased, A.H., stopped on the side of the road because she felt unwell and got out of the vehicle. She was critically injured by a truck and was pronounced dead at the Linson Hospital in Petah Tikva. Four of her children were in the vehicle - a 15-year-old girl, two children aged 4 and 11, and a baby aged about a year and a half, who were lightly injured. They were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the Schneider Medical Center in Petah Tikva.
The family members made their way from a visit to their mother in Karmiel to their home in Ma'ale Adumim.
Ma'ale Adumim Mayor Guy Ifrach said: "Aviva was a valued and beloved municipal employee and assistant in the city's education system. We are all saddened and shocked by her untimely death. I send my deepest condolences to her family and children. We will accompany them in this difficult time and assist them in any need."
MDA emergency medical technician, Moshe Indig: "This is a very serious car accident. We were told that the woman was standing next to the car and a truck hit her and the car. She was unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, and suffered from multiple systemic injuries. We immediately gave her medical treatment, which included CPR and medication, and evacuated her in an MDA intensive care unit to the hospital in critical condition."
"At the same time, additional MDA teams provided medical treatment to 4 additional victims from the vehicle, and then we evacuated them to the hospital in mild condition."
David Abuzamil and Aharon Avital, United Hatzalah paramedics: "When we arrived at the scene, we encountered a pedestrian suffering from multiple systemic injuries and unconscious. According to passersby, the driver got out of her vehicle and was hit by a passing vehicle. Unfortunately, we were informed that she was pronounced dead at the hospital. We also provided medical assistance to a 15-year-old girl, two children aged 4 and 11, and a baby aged about a year and a half in mild condition."
Nachman Tobul, spokesman for United Hatzalah Online: "Last Thursday, a similar accident also occurred after stopping on the side of the road. It is appropriate and recommended to avoid stopping on the side of the road as much as possible, which unfortunately causes serious accidents, most of which are fatal."
Police traffic investigators arrived at the scene of the accident and detained the truck driver, a resident of the Beit Shean area, in his 60s, for questioning. At the end of the investigation, a decision will be made whether to request an extension of his detention in court.
The Sharon Area ZAKA team took care of the dignity of the deceased, collecting the findings at the scene of the accident.
