Rabbi Hirsch: Trying to destroy the Torah, then anti-Semitism rises

הגרמ"ה הירש, ראש ישיבת סלבודקה, אמר אמש (שני) בשיחה שהועברה בשידור חי לבני חו"ל בתשעה באב, כי הניסיון לצמצם את עולם התורה מוביל להעצמת תופעת האנטישמיות ברחבי העולם. "אנחנו חיים כעת בתקופה, שאינה חסרת תקדים", אמר ראש הישיבה. "כלל ישראל במשך מאות ומאות השנים שלאחר בית הקדוש ולפני בית המקדש, היו לנו אתגרים מאותם סוג של היום".

In his words, he described today's reality. ""Everyone is against us, but we must remember now, when there is a real fear that people are trying to destroy the Land of Israel, a time when from within, our people, Jews, are trying to destroy the Torah, there is a tremendous amount of anti-Semitism in the entire world, the whole world is against us.".

Grand Master Hirsch emphasized the importance of faith and trust in God: "What should we think at this time? We must be careful not to forget that all of this is from the Lord of the Worlds! The Lord of the Worlds did all of this as a test for us, so that we would understand that all of this is somehow for our benefit so that we would repent. It's simple why it's good for us, for repentance. But let's remember that this is certainly from the Lord of the Worlds, and it is certainly somehow or other for our benefit. There is no doubt that the matter of repentance is a very, very important point here in what is happening.

""And the very thing of confidence, meaning understanding that the Holy One, blessed be He, is doing all this for our good, Rabbi Yonah cites from the rabbis that this in itself can be a reason for success, and we must remember this a lot and work on the idea that everything is from the Holy One, blessed be He.".

ראש הישיבה הוסיף: "נשאלה השאלה איך אנחנו מאזנים את האבילות מהעבר עם הפחדים מההווה ותקווה לעתיד. אני חושב שכאשר אנחנו חושבים על העבר, למרבה הצער, ההווה מקל על החשיבה של העבר, כי החורבן בהווה לא כל כך רחוק מזה, כשאנחנו רואים את האסון של החורבן כאן, אפשר לדמיין מה היה אז החורבן. "ובמובן מסוים אז היה חורבן מיוחד יותר מכל, חורבן בית המקדש, עם כל התוצאות שבאים עם חורבן בית המקדש, שכינה נסתלקה מאתנו, בית המקדש חרב ובוטל התמיד ואין לנו לא כהן בעבודתו ולא לוי בדוכנו ולא ישראל במעמדו, אין את הסייעתא דשמיא של בית המקדש. "בגלל החורבן כאן עכשיו רחמנא ליצלן אנחנו יכולים לתאר לעצמנו מה עוד, ולהיפך, עלינו לחזק את עצמנו בביטחון של אתחלתא דגאולה, אדרבה, מהמצב הזו אנו מחזקים את עצמנו, כאשר אנו עומדים מול הקדוש ברוך הוא, ומרבים להביא כבוד שמים, ובסופו של דבר את הגאולה השלימה במהרה בימינו. אמן".
