Minister of Religious Services Michael Malchieli was interviewed this evening (Wednesday) on the "Patriots" program on Channel 14 and said that his ministry, which is responsible for burials, is preparing itself for major scenarios in the north.
The minister said: "The Ministry of Religious Services, which is responsible for the burial system, is preparing itself for scenarios in the north. Not everything can be said in the studios, but meetings are being held in the ministry to prepare for bigger things in the north.".

Malchieli rejected the possibility that Shas would topple the right-wing government: "Anyone who knows Shas Chairman Rabbi Deri, not only does he go with the right - he established the right-wing bloc when the other side offered him a blank sheet of paper to write whatever he wanted. Rabbi Deri is the one who made an effort in the plenum in the previous term to overthrow law after law until the Lapid government fell. Shas built this government and will certainly not dismantle it. May the left not build on that.".
Malchieli also addressed the 'Rabbis Law' crisis and said: "The Rabbis Law was born as a result of a scathing report by the State Comptroller on the failure to appoint city rabbis in dozens of cities in Israel. I am inundated with thousands of inquiries from citizens as to why we do not have a city rabbi, whether in joy or in sadness.".
""All the coalition factions recognized and signed the law we brought, and suddenly some of them say: It doesn't suit us. This is not a partnership. Unfortunately, certain right-wing elements in the Knesset, the government, and the media have joined forces with the left to fight against religion. Some of them are ignorant. The fight against the law was supposed to be left-wing elements - not our partners.".
