The heads of Agudat Israel - Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, Meir Porush, and the chairman of the Labor and Welfare Committee, MK Yisrael Eichler - held a working meeting today (Sunday) with Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri. The meeting was attended by the chairman of the 'Ashdod Torah' faction, Council member Ephraim Weber, and Council member Yehoshua Tenenhuis. The mayor thanked the two for their support from the beginning and emphasized his commitment to the joint service of all the city's residents, together with the faction's representatives, for the benefit of the city of Ashdod and its residents. Minister Porush and MK Eichler emphasized to the mayor that they are at the disposal of the city of Ashdod and that with joint forces, much can be done for the city. MK Eichler raised at the meeting Ashdod's ability to be a solution to the haredi housing crisis and agreed with the mayor that they would work together to advance the issue. This was followed by the placing of a mezuzah and the inauguration of the new office of the chairman of the Ashdod Torah faction, Ephraim Weber, with the participation of the heads and representatives of the holy communities in the city, who came to participate in the start of another term of action for the city of Ashdod, spiritually and materially. In a special meeting held with dozens of heads and representatives of the communities in the city council hall, the local representatives presented the coalition achievements that will allow the faction to serve the electorate in the best possible way in the next five years. He noted the inauguration of the office of council member Rabbi Weber and said: "After 25 years of public service, it is certainly appropriate that Rabbi Weber will have a permanent residence in the city hall, and I am sure that he, together with Rabbi Tenenhuis and Rabbi Cohen, Arazi will stand firmly in fulfilling the needs of the city's residents in general and our electorate in particular." Eichler also emphasized the vital need to allocate public buildings for educational institutions.
