Ahead of the Sukkot holiday and Chol HaMoed, days when heavy traffic is expected on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, in light of the paving and development work being carried out in recent months on the site, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset MK Uri Maklev appealed to the head of the National Traffic Division of the Israel Police, and the acting CEO of Netivei Israel, requesting that the work be stopped during the Sukkot holiday, so as not to burden the increased traffic on the road.
The Deputy CEO of Netivei Israel responded in a letter to MK Maklev: "We will not allow work on Highway No. 1 at night during the holocaust.
""During the day, work will continue on the sides of the road without interruption, with both lanes open to traffic in both directions.".
The head of the National Traffic Division, Superintendent Moshe Edri, also responded to MK Maklev that the traffic police will do everything to keep Highway 1 open without interruptions during the Hol Hamoed holiday.
