In recent years, pressure has been created among the seminaries, as in the small yeshivots, to close early registration for the seminary. The phenomenon has become increasingly severe, to the point that last year registration for the seminars was brought forward to the closing of registration for sixth grade in the schools. Due to the grim situation, Rabbi Eliezer Suretzkin, Director General of Independent Education, decided to present the serious problem to the great men of Israel, led by Maran Rosh HaYeshiva, the Gra"d Lando - at a special gathering for this purpose at his home, together with the Gra"d Hirsch and the Gra"d Cohen, in order to discuss ways of action against the phenomenon. This morning (Friday), a letter from the Maran Rosh HaYeshiva, joined by the Gra"d Hirsch and the Gra"d Cohen, was published on the front page of the Yated Ne'eman newspaper - in which it was stated: "The education of the daughters of Israel has always been before the eyes of our rabbis, zt"l. In every generation, breaches are discovered in the wall of education, and it is our duty to fortify and strengthen the walls so that the students are not harmed. In recent years, the registration of female students from the Beit Yaakov schools for the seminaries has been increasingly advanced, to the point that this has created harm in general and in particular, as follows. In general, they are the majority of the students who have registered and been accepted to the seminaries and understand that being accepted to the seminaries is enough for them to have invested in their early years, since they are guaranteed to enter one seminary or another, and the important years of study in the seventh and eighth grades are going down the drain. And the distress of the individual cries out, when the minority of students who are not accepted see their friends being accepted and their eyes are filled with tears, when their great sorrow and tears are shed. Therefore, as our rabbis zt"l have already determined, schools and seminaries should be absolutely prohibited from any action to register early for the seminary before the month of Cheshon of the eighth grade.
