Beit Vegan neighborhood, Jerusalem, Yom Kippur: Kobi Weiner from the Beit Halkia settlement and his three children, Itamar, Michael and Rivka, were sitting in their car when suddenly a bus skidded, hit the car and crushed it.
In a conversation with Yoav Limor on 'Morning News' on Keshet 12, Kobi described: "I left the house on the moshav towards Jerusalem, to pick up the older child who is studying in yeshiva at Beit Vegan. When I arrived there, I met my son who said he was late because he had to make up a test. I was waiting with the children in the car, when suddenly we saw guys running. I saw through the mirror guys jumping out of the bus doors. I couldn't understand, it all happened in two seconds. I prepared to receive the blow, because I saw the bus coming and going.".
"What were you doing in those seconds?" the interviewer asked.
""I managed to shout something like: 'Be careful.' I tilted my body a little to the right, to get as little hit as possible from the bus. It slowly approached. Michael was sitting in the back by the window and Rivka was next to him, in the middle. Itamar was sitting in the front.".
Itamar, what went through your mind when you felt the boom?
""I heard guys shouting 'attack, attack'. Right after the explosion, I got out of the car and ran away.".
Kobe, when do you realize this isn't a terrorist attack?
""I thought it might be a terrorist attack, because I saw guys jumping off the bus. It was a strange sight. At first I couldn't quite understand what was happening. Then they told us the driver was outside the bus. We did move away, I didn't want to be close to the car. The bus knocked down a power pole that was next to my car. I didn't want to take any risks and I moved a little further away with the children.".
A miracle happened to you, Secretary Limor.
""Thank God, we are doing great, we feel great. In the yeshiva where my son studies, there are 1,000-1,500 young men who sat and prayed all day, from morning until evening. I credit them with what happened there. These are truly miracles.".
Egged's response: "The safety of Egged passengers is our top priority. Since the incident is under police investigation, we cannot comment. This is likely a human error. We are cooperating with the police and awaiting the results of the investigation.".
