Among all the reports and spin on the eve of the elections, a rumor was spread that after the veto by Degel on Hanoch Seibert, the AGOI representative for mayor of Bnei Brak, claims arose that some members of the 'council' expressed resentment over the veto, that their names were used without their knowledge, and that the move was carried out without consulting all members of the 'council'. Let's find out: A group that comes together to ride a 'Dankel', does everyone have to validate? One of the names mentioned is that of Rabbi Zilberstein. The publication claims that the rabbi called Menachem Shapira, director of the municipal department at Degel HaTorah, and expressed a strong stance against the move, and the decision, which he said was made without discussion and presentation of details to all members of the "council," many of whom live in the city. However, his family now say that the matters were brought to the attention of Rabbi Zilberstein - who vehemently denied the matters, and in conversations he had with his associates and students regarding local election matters in general, and the city of Bnei Brak in particular, he said and asked to publish publicly: "We all trust only in the decisions of Maran Rabbi Dov Lando, and whatever he rules and decides, we will do and carry out, and you will do whatever he instructs." The Rabbi spoke out and said that after the passing of his brother-in-law, Maran Ha-Rabbi Kanievsky, zt"l, and Maran Rosh Yeshivah, Garib Edelstein, zt"l, the Haredi public is now entirely united under the leadership of Maran Ha-Rabbi Lando - and all difficult questions and public decisions must be presented to him and his holy decision accepted. Also, associates of the "Council" member say that in recent weeks various parties and activists have tried to enter his residence to try to gain his support for a particular mayoralty or to cancel another move in an unknown city, and to all of them Rabbi Silberstein replied that he was not interested in entering into these questions - and that they were directed solely to Maran Grat Lando. His associates added that even with very specific questions or the entry of certain party members into his residence, Rabbi Silberstein instructed that they should only contact his trusted person, his disciple and associate Rabbi Menachem Shapira, whom he trusts with both hands, and that only through him would he agree to discuss these matters.
