The shutdown was due to a malfunction in the signaling system that manages communication with drivers and trains. The Dankel company announced that until further notice, there will be no service on the Red Line of the train from Petah Tikva to Bat Yam.
After a few hours, the problem was resolved and the train resumed operation.
Tevel, the operator of the light rail's red line, said: "The light rail service has resumed operation along the entire route. Due to a fault in the electrical network, last night, a fault occurred in the signaling system that is responsible for the movement of the trains. Since last night, teams in Israel and abroad have been working to overcome the incident, and the service is now fully operational. However, it should be remembered that these are new and complex systems that pose new challenges that must be faced. Tevel will conduct a comprehensive investigation so that such an incident does not happen again and lessons are learned."
