After the 'Pasta Protest': Osem announced today (Tuesday) a price increase for a variety of products - at an average rate of about 5%. Osem stated that these are products that "were not updated in December 2022 and account for only about 15% of the company's sales" - including breakfast cereals, coffee and Gerber, whose prices will increase by an average rate of 4.7%. Materna products will increase in price by about 2.6%, and the prices of sauces, seasoning soups and pasta will increase by an average rate of 4.5%. Osem claims that the decision was made following the continued price increases in raw materials and packaging, including coffee, grains, tomato concentrate, milk and its ingredients, sugar, packaging, metal and more. This, "along with a sharp devaluation of the shekel against the dollar and the euro." In addition, Osem updated "that in light of significant increases in flour production costs, the company has decided to stop producing and marketing flour products in Israel." On Sunday, the import giant Shestovitz announced that it is expected to raise the prices of some of its products by up to 15% in the coming weeks. In a notice sent to retailers, it was stated that Pompadour, Barilla and Master Chef products are expected to increase in price. For most products, the increase is 6% to 10%, and for some, the increase even reaches 15%. Similar to Osem, Shestovitz explained: "The background to the price increase is price increases from suppliers as well as the weakening of the shekel in recent months.".
