Lod breaks new ground in the Haredi community: On the eve of Rosh Chodesh Nissan, Lod Mayor Attorney Yair Revivo, along with a delegation, arrived at the home of the head of the Orchot HaTorah yeshivot, Rabbi Shraga Steinman - where they received his personal blessing for the opening of a new Talmud Torah in the Ganei Ayalon neighborhood, a high-quality educational institution for boys to be called 'Bnei HaYeshivot' by 'Torat Reuven' institutions. Ganei Ayalon currently has three Lithuanian Talmuds and two Sephardic Talmuds. The 'Bnei HaYeshivot' Talmud Torah will be opened in addition to the existing ones, in light of the struggles that Revivo waged together with the Chief Rabbi of Lod, Rabbi Shimon Meir Biton, and other factors against the Talmud Torah administrations, which each year did not accept about 15 to 20 students from the neighborhood at the start of the school year. "You know very well how much this issue is on my heart - and how much I have cried out about the fact that for the past two years, every Rosh Chodesh Elul, the Lod Municipality "In cooperation with all parties, they had to engage in integrating the neighborhood's children into Torah studies, while causing grief and anguish to parents and children," said Ravivo, "and I promised last year that, with God's help, at the beginning of the 2014 school year, there would not be a single child left at home without an educational framework that is personally and individually appropriate for them." The anguish of the parents and students is familiar from many cities across the country, where educational institutions conduct screening and do not accept every student into their educational framework, but in Lod, they have made it their mission in the city administration to fight the phenomenon and not allow a child to remain at home on Rosh Chodesh Elul. The delegation included: Rabbi Yisrael David Becker - founder and director of the new Talmud Torah, member of the city council and head of the Haredi sector, Attorney Meir Assulin, director of the Haredi Culture Department at the municipality - Rabbi Benny Sitalkiel, and Rabbi Moshe Ben Yosef, head of the Haredi sector's public relations department, operating under the Projects Department, led by Shiran Bokera-Jerbi, who assisted and was a partner throughout the entire blessed process. The director of the Talmud Torah, Rabbi Becker, noted that education in the new institution will begin from kindergarten onwards. Rabbi added: "Of course, we also received the blessing of the way from all the rabbis in the neighborhood - who wished us great success in educating the children of Israel and the babies of Rabban's home." Rabbi Shteinman praised the work of the mayor of Lod for the education of his city's children and the relentless effort he made to ensure that every child in Ganei Ayalon will have an educational institution that suits his needs, with the start of the 2014 school year and beyond.
