""Thank God": Chabad Hasid elected mayor of Pomona, near Muncie

Rabbi Ilan Fox, A Chabad follower, resident of the town of Pomona, located Near Muncie in Rockland County, New York State, was elected to serve as mayor.

Fox won by a majority of votes in the elections held last night (Tuesday). Until now, he has served As a member of the village council along with his friend, also a Chabad follower, Rabbi Mendy Lasker.

Two more Haredi representatives were elected in the election campaign - Yoel Grunwald and Raanan Zidila. The village council has five members.

In a video he posted, Fox thanked everyone who voted for him and pledged to continue working for the community. ""We won by a very large majority, thanks to all your help," he said. "Thank God for the opportunity to serve the community, and we thank all the men and women who came out to vote.".

Fox said he looks forward to continuing to serve the community, "improving services and improving communications.".
