The rescue was carried out after a report was received this morning at the police hotline 100 about a man who was in distress after being swept into the heart of the Sea of Galilee while on a rubber boat. Immediately upon receiving the incident, a team from the Sea of Galilee Marine Policing Unit was dispatched to the area, and within a short time the team located the fisherman who was in a hypothermic state, without a life jacket and his boat was flooded with water. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident revealed that the fisherman entered the Sea of Galilee in order to retrieve a remote-controlled boat after it had been swept away - and he lost control of it due to the stormy weather. The fisherman, who was exhausted, and his boat were loaded onto the police boat from where he was transferred to shore for a medical check-up by rescue forces waiting at the scene. The police reiterate the dangers of entering rough or rough seas: boating or swimming with partners while being equipped with communication means in case of an emergency. In case of life-threatening situations - immediately report to 100 - the Israel Police emergency hotline.
