Shorten travel time to the capital: Starting Sunday, vehicles with two passengers - a driver and a passenger - and more are also allowed to use the 'Netiv Plus' on Route 1 to Jerusalem, from the Daniel Interchange to the Harel Interchange, instead of 3+ today. This was decided by Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the route and increasing the number of users during rush hour. Today (Thursday), the Israel Roads Company began replacing the signage on the Netiv Plus on Route 1, so that it indicates that travel on the Netiv Plus is permitted for a driver and a passenger (2+), instead of a driver and two passengers (3+). The work will be completed in the coming days, subject to weather conditions. It should be emphasized that 'Netiv Plus' on Route 1 is only active between 06:30-09:30 in the morning, and during the rest of the day the route is permitted for all road users, regardless of the number of passengers in the vehicle. Minister Regev instructed the professional teams at the Ministry of Transportation to continue examining the transportation benefits of public and cooperative transportation routes across the country, and to strengthen public transportation lines on these routes. The Minister of Transportation's decision was made after receiving the conclusions of the professional team that examined the occupancy of the Plus Route and its effects on road traffic. According to the data, approximately 130 buses and approximately 300 private vehicles (3+) travel on the Plus Route per hour. According to the team's recommendations, the capacity of the route can be maximized by converting it to a 2+ route, which would mean adding approximately 500 vehicles per hour and reducing congestion on the other routes.
