As he approaches his 9th year as editor-in-chief of Makor Rishon, Hagai Segal will soon end his role as editor and return to focusing on writing above the newspaper's pages.

Business owners? Grow on it: You too deserve to grow to number one

Segal recently shared with senior executives of the Israel Hayom group, Amir Finkelstein and Ricky Robb, his opinion on the need for a change of shifts - and his desire to end his role as editor-in-chief.

Publisher and group owner Dr. Miriam Adelson has decided that the next editor of 'Makor Rishon' will be Elad Tene.

Tena is returning to the newspaper, where he previously worked for years - when, among other things, he founded and edited the magazine 'Motzash' in 2010, and also served as the newspaper's deputy editor-in-chief.

He then served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Maariv and Editor-in-Chief of NRG. In 2015, he founded the digital division at the Public Broadcasting Corporation and managed it for 6 years.

In his last position, Tene served as head of the State of Israel's national information system in the Bennett government.

Tena will take up his position in May, at the end of the cooling-off period required of a senior civil servant.

Dr. Miriam Adelson, Group Publisher, "It is difficult to describe Hagai Segal's enormous contribution to the growth and promotion of the Makor Rishon newspaper over the years, and we are pleased that Hagai will continue to lead our professional team of writers in the coming years."

"We welcome Elad Tanna's return to the newspaper that was his home, and we are confident that Tanna will lead the newspaper to new heights."

Hagai Segal: "Nearly nine years ago, I was offered the position of editor of Makor Rishon, a position in which the joy of great creation and great responsibility go hand in hand. Every day I remembered that I was not a soloist, at most the captain of a fine, hardworking and enthusiastic team. Recently, I realized that the time had come for a change of guard. I believe that Elad Tena's skills will help him lead Makor Rishon - the newspaper and the website - from strength to strength. With God's help, I will also help to the best of my ability."

Elad Tana: "I am grateful for the trust and the privilege of serving as the editor-in-chief of Makor Rishon. This is an exciting closing of a circle for me and also a beginning of a new path, and I hope that I can take Makor Rishon on its achievements, continue the legacy, and move it forward."
