The Diaspora Ministry held a ministerial exchange ceremony today (Monday) between outgoing Minister Nachman Shai of Labor and incoming Minister Amichai Shikli of Likud. The event was attended by all representatives of Diaspora organizations operating in Israel and around the world, who came to honor the status, as those who have been in direct contact with the Diaspora Ministry throughout the year. During the event, outgoing Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai wished to thank all representatives of the Jewish organizations and mentioned one of the most prominent of them: Chabad emissary Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Peles, who heads the Chabad rescue center in Ukraine (JNRU) and heads the Chabad global security network. "Our partner in Ukraine is here," said Nachman Shai. Since the war in Ukraine broke out, the connection between Chabad emissaries in the country and the Diaspora Ministry has strengthened, a connection led by Rabbi Peles, along with Rabbi David Mondshein of Or Avner. Over the past year, the outgoing minister was exposed to the unprecedented activity of the Chabad emissaries and joined joint conference calls with the Chabad emissaries in Ukraine several times, and was exposed up close to testimonies about what is happening in Jewish communities and the selfless activity of the emissaries under fire. At the end of the event, Rabbi Peles met with the incoming Minister of Diaspora Amichai Shikli and presented him with a book of Chasat and a leather charity box, along with the incoming minister's friend, Rabbi Or Ziv, the Chabad emissaries in Jerusalem.
