Supreme Court Justice Alex Stein ruled today (Monday) that Aryeh Deri will be able to be appointed as a minister in the government that will be sworn in this coming Thursday. This was after rejecting the petition of the 'Movement for Quality of Government', which sought to prevent the appointment of Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri as a minister in the new government. According to the judge, the movement's petition was premature, that is, before Deri was actually appointed as a minister. Judge Stein also opposed granting temporary relief at this stage, which would prevent Deri from being appointed as a minister until the discussions on the issue are concluded and a final decision is made. It was also determined that the respondents to the petition - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Aryeh Deri, the Knesset, the Government Advocate and the State Attorney - will be able to respond to the petition until next Wednesday.
