Lena Volkov, the widow of Yuri Volkov, a 52-year-old medical staff member at Ichilov, who was stabbed to death yesterday at a crosswalk in Holon, spoke painfully about the incident today (Thursday). "We told him it was forbidden. He looked wrong. I told Yuri that maybe we would take a picture of him and send him to the police. Then he killed him," Lena said.

15 hours after the incident, the investigation is still at a dead end and the police do not have the identity of the suspect, who fled the apartment after stabbing Volkov. An examination revealed that he was riding the scooter without a license plate. Unusually, the investigation was transferred to the Tel Aviv Central Police Unit.

""My father was a hero," said Daria, Yuri's daughter. "There was a motorcyclist who apparently tried to run them over at the first crosswalk. My mother started taking pictures of him and wanted to pass the information on to the police. He probably saw it, got angry, turned back and told her to delete the photos. She agreed to delete them, said, 'Everything is fine, just keep going.'" "He kept moving forward and stuck to her. My father saw everything, immediately approached him quickly and said, 'Move forward, man, everything is fine.' Apparently, this person didn't like it, he shouted at my mother in half Arabic, half Hebrew. He took out a retractable knife and stabbed my father in the heart. They're still looking for him." The daughter added and said: "My father was a very strong person, he survived corona three times. He worked in intensive care and helped other people. He was a military man for six years. I call on the police to find the murderer and put him in prison for as many years as possible, so that he may suffer for the rest of his life." Ichilov Hospital Director, Prof. Roni Gamzo, expressed sorrow over the murder: "Yuri worked hard for a living and was professional and proud of his work. Always neat, polite and ethical with a face full of kindness and dedication. We will make sure to embrace and support his family and establish an annual scholarship in his name to be awarded to outstanding employees of the auxiliary forces.".
