A terrible tragedy: In Afula, Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, the late Rabbi of the local Haredi community, died suddenly this evening (Monday), at the age of 31, after collapsing.

The deceased, z"l, was born in Bnei Brak in the month of Tevet 5751 to his father, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Cohen, and his mother, Mrs. Hanna.

In his youth, he studied at the 'Birkat HaTorah' yeshiva for young people in Bnei Brak and at the 'Birkat Yitzhak' yeshiva in Or Yehuda.

After his marriage to his wife, the Grossman family from Modi'in Illit, they moved to Afula, where he established a Kirov seminary and served as head of an Arab kollel.

Today he complained that he was not feeling well, and a few hours later he collapsed. The rescue forces that were called performed prolonged CPR on him, but to the dismay of his family and friends, they had no choice but to declare him dead.

He left behind his wife and children, including a baby who was only three weeks old.

The funeral procession left this evening from his home on Connecticut Street in Givat HaMoreh in Afula, and at 12:30 at night at the new life house in Elad - where he will be buried.
