On the occasion of 175 years of Swiss Railways: A train has been built in Switzerland that breaks the record for the longest train in the world. The train has 100 carriages, is 1,910 meters long, and its route runs through the Alps for 25 kilometers. The train can travel at a speed of only 35 kilometers per hour, and in order to operate it, seven drivers and 21 technicians are needed. In photographs from the Alpine train's journey, you can see the train sections filling the mountain's windings. In order to transport so many carriages at once, the long train was operated using several locomotives in parallel, with the drivers training several months before the final journey to travel in synchronization with each other.
