Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai arrived this evening (Thursday) for a meeting with the Rebbe of Sanz, a member of the Agudat Yisrael Council of Torah Sages - at his home in Kiryat Sanz in Netanya. The Commissioner, accompanied by the Police Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Rami Barachiyahu, spoke with the Rebbe about the police's cooperation with the Haredi public. The Rebbe and the Commissioner had a discussion regarding the activities of the Israel Police. In addition, the two discussed the steps that the police are implementing to provide better police services to the Haredi public in all its forms - including the establishment of Sabbath-observing police stations in Haredi cities to provide a police response on Shabbat. The Sanz Police Department reported that "the Commissioner, who came to tour the Laniado Hospital, came to visit the Rebbe of Sanz at the end." In the round of meetings held by the Commissioner, he has so far met with the Rebbe of Gur, the Gra Deutsch - leader of the 'Yerushalmi faction', and more. According to the police, additional meetings with rabbis and rebbes are expected in the future. It should be noted that, in parallel with the PR meetings with rabbis and rebbes, the police have so far not apologized for cases of violence against Haredim - including the shocking attack on Haim Mizrahi in the Geula neighborhood, or the incident in which an elderly Haredim couple were documented being hit and injured by blue water sprayed on them from a Makht El-Zayit, during a demonstration in Jerusalem.
