IDF and Border Guard forces this morning (Wednesday) killed Abd Hazem, the brother of terrorist Raed Hazem, who carried out the murderous attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv about six months ago. The two terrorists, Abd Hazem and Ahmed Alawna, who were eliminated after an exchange of gunfire in Jenin, prepared powerful explosive devices that were supposed to explode and harm Israeli security forces arriving at the house where they were hiding. The security forces were expecting such a scenario and thus avoided harming them. The IDF spokesman and the police spokespeople published dramatic footage, one of which was from the helmet cameras of Border Guard interlopers, in which several terrorists in Jenin are seen opening live fire at the fighters - who responded with fire and managed to eliminate several terrorists. In the footage published by the IDF spokesman from "Rocef Shmayim", security forces are seen destroying explosive devices that were aimed at security forces - and the explosion of the device can be seen. In additional, dramatic footage from the helmet cameras of Border Police officers, the fighters are seen responding with gunfire and hitting several terrorists who opened fire on them.
Lt. Col. A, a platoon commander who was one of the commanders who led the activity in the field: "During the morning, the Judea and Samaria Special Operations Command unit carried out an operation to capture two wanted individuals who are defined by the security establishment as 'ticking bombs.' The unit planned to take the wanted individuals out of the building. "In the initial stage, the unit's fighters closed the building and planned to start calling out to the wanted individuals in order to get them out. At this stage, the wanted individuals activated powerful explosives at the forces, and during the explosions they also tried to escape the building while armed. The unit's fighters identified the escape of the armed individuals, thwarted it, and killed the two armed individuals." Major Netanel Bariach, from the Sayeret Nahal Division: "Last night, Sayeret Nahal fighters operated in cooperation with the Judea and Samaria Naval Forces and Border Guard forces in the Jenin refugee camp to arrest a number of terrorists who carried out attacks against Israeli targets on the fence and were even planning to carry out attacks in the future. During the activity, explosives were thrown and fire was fired at the force. The fighters operated while striving for contact, returned fire, and many hits were observed.".
