Concern at Assuta Public Hospital in Ashdod: A one-year-old baby was hospitalized yesterday (Wednesday) evening with the coronavirus, following worsening symptoms of the disease. According to a report in Israel Hayom, upon his arrival and the continued deterioration of his condition, doctors were forced to put him to sleep and breathe on his own. The baby is now hospitalized in the hospital's intensive care unit and his condition is stabilizing. Against the backdrop of concerns about cross-infection between the coronavirus and the flu in the winter, the health funds yesterday opened the fifth vaccination campaign with an updated vaccine for the Omicron strain. Vaccination with the additional dose will be possible for the entire population over the age of 12, but is recommended for those aged 65 and over, patients with chronic diseases and those suffering from immune system suppression. Additional groups for whom it is recommended to be vaccinated with the Omicron-adapted vaccine are healthcare or teaching workers or caregivers of the elderly.
