Towards New Year's Eve: The Ukrainian Security Service held an expanded exercise on Friday with the participation of the Uman police, the National Guard, special units, and all of the city's emergency services, as part of preparations for the arrival of thousands of Breslov Hasidim to the memorial of Rabbi Nachman. According to a report in Ukrainian media, special forces soldiers conducted anti-terror training. The Ukrainian Security Service said of the exercises: "These operations are aimed at strengthening security and training for a rapid response to possible threats." The exercise lasted until the early hours of Saturday night, during which the forces carried out various operations. The Security Service said: "A comprehensive inspection was held on the premises of the building in the Historical and Cultural Center named after Rabbi Nachman of Breslov to check the security of the pilgrimage site. The SBU special forces practiced situations and carried out assault operations using mountaineering equipment." However, the Ukrainian Security Service and the police recommend against coming to Uman, fearing that Russia could use the thousands of worshippers to stage provocations. It should be noted that thousands of Breslov Hasidim have already purchased tickets, ignoring the recommendations not to come.
