Members of a Pittsburgh Hasidic family centered in Ashdod were injured to varying degrees after being involved in a serious car accident on Highway 234 - at the Yeruham Junction in the direction of Be'er Sheva. Rescue forces provided the injured with initial medical treatment, after which they were evacuated to the hospital. The moderately injured man was trapped in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Fire and rescue teams performed complex operations using hydraulic rescue tools, and after rescuing the trapped man, he was immediately transferred to the medical forces that were on site. The teams then conducted scans to rule out additional casualties and disconnected energy sources, in order to rule out additional hotspots. According to a report on the Ashdods website, in the Hasidic synagogue, after the Mincha prayer, chapters of the Psalms were recited and a prayer was offered for the wounded, with the participation of the Rebbe. The Hasidic community asked to pray for the healing of the wounded. Their names for the prayer were: Mordechai ben Zion ben Hinda, Gila Esther bat Naomi, Shlomo Eliezer ben Gila Esther and Miriam bat Gila Esther.
