Disasters between times: A one-year-old toddler drowned in a pool at a home in the city of Modi'in Illit this afternoon (Thursday). The toddler was pulled from the water unconscious. Rescue forces called to the scene provided the toddler with medical treatment, performed CPR, and after his pulse returned, they evacuated him to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, where he is in serious condition and is sedated and on a ventilator. Dr. Oren Feldman, director of the emergency medicine department at Safra Children's Hospital in Sheba, where the toddler was rushed, said: "About an hour ago, a one-year-old toddler arrived at the Safra Children's Hospital in very serious condition after drowning in a home pool. He underwent CPR by MDA, and after initial stabilization of his condition, he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for further treatment - where the team continues to fight for his life." MDA emergency medical personnel, Lior Harel and David Levy, said: "We were led to the baby who was unconscious in the yard of the house, after he was pulled from the pool. We immediately began performing advanced and prolonged CPR, which included massages and breathing - and after his pulse returned, we put him in the intensive care unit and evacuated him to the hospital while continuing treatment, while his condition was serious." The hospital said: "A few minutes ago, a one-year-old baby was admitted to the emergency department at Safra Children's Hospital after drowning in a pool in Modi'in Illit. "The baby is sedated and on a ventilator in very serious condition and is currently being treated by medical teams who are fighting for his life.".
