During MK Yaakov Asher's speech in the Knesset plenary today (Thursday), Asher first addressed Lapid's attack on MK Moshe Gafni - who said that the rising housing prices are after Gafni's tenure as chairman of the Finance Committee. "Your and Gafni's economic knowledge is identical, and meanwhile Rabbi Gafni has received praise from everyone for his professional performance on the Finance Committee - and you still haven't.".
MK Asher later attacked the Finance Minister for deliberately delaying the "Target Price" program promoted by the Housing Minister for six months. "If this isn't politics and you really care about housing, let's start with a target price, we'll lower the land price, and then you'll worry about your babies, zero VAT.".
MK Asher noted in his speech that the debate may be legitimate as to whether zero VAT would be beneficial or not, even though all economists are against it, but for the sake of politics, the Minister of Finance is causing apartment prices to rise for six months, just because of the sticks he stuck in the wheels of the 'Target Price' plan that would certainly benefit housing prices. "You are preventing the Minister of Housing and the Israel Lands Administration from submitting the plan on the backs of the weak," he said.
During MK Asher's speech, Lapid turned his head demonstratively. MK Asher turned to him and said: "I listened to you very attentively, listen for a minute too. So what if I'm an ultra-Orthodox? For two years you've been selling to the public your mantra of putting the working person at the center. What exactly did you do to achieve that?"
""What exactly do you call the person who works at the center? Just last week, the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Education announced that they were closing after-school centers. Is this the person who works at the center? When every woman can no longer work and at noon she has to be at home with the children?"
""It's becoming more apparent that you decided to put politics at the center and not the working person," Asher concluded.
