On a collision course? Yehuda Wald, CEO of the Religious Zionist Party, published a response on his Twitter account this evening (Tuesday) to the opposition of the Otzma Yehudit party to placing former deputy head of the Jewish Home, Attorney Moshe Saada, as the agreed-upon candidate in seventh place on the list of the two parties.
A service revolution in public transportation: Why is it now more profitable to travel?
Wald's response came after Ben Gvir obediently revealed his candidate for seventh place: "The warrior from the Negev: Almog Cohen, founder of the 'Committee for Saving the Negev', one of the founders of 'Sayeret Barel', and representative of the periphery, is the third representative of Otzma Yehudit, who will be placed in seventh place on the unified list.".
Wald responded to this to Ben Gvir: "The day before yesterday, we made a fair offer with major concessions on our part. Yesterday you announced that you agreed to the offer that talked about 7 as an agreed candidate who could bring seats to the list. Now you are going back on your word and insisting that place 7 also belongs to your Jewish self, to your field activist from the south.".
Weld added: "Aren't you exaggerating? It seems like you're striving for an explosion instead of unity. Too bad.".
The one who responded to Wald was Otzma Yehudit CEO Yitzhak Wasserlauf: "My friend Yehuda, you made a proposal on Channel 12 for 5 places in the top ten, and then you went back on your word and want to dictate to us your absolute candidate in our place. Do you really want 6 out of the top 8 for yourself and only 2 for us? In your eyes, the residents of the periphery are nothing? Your arrogance is terrible. It's a shame that you are forcibly leading to division.".
Earlier today, MK Bezalel Smotrich announced that he supports the candidacy of Attorney Moshe Saada as the agreed candidate for the seventh place.
""Moshe Saada, who grew up in a family with roots in Beit She'an and on Moshav Ramot Meir, excelled in legal work at the Criminal Investigation Division and refused to stand by when he saw the corrupt conduct of the prosecutor's office and the police," said Smotrich. "Saada is the standard-bearer in the struggle for a just and ethical rule of law and serves as a voice for hundreds of thousands, secular, religious and ultra-Orthodox alike. I call on the members of Itamar to unite in support of Saada and sign the joint running agreement.".
On the other hand, Ben Gvir is interested in placing Almog Cohen, a representative from the periphery, in the 7th position, in order to expand the party's voter base and increase its power - and therefore expressed opposition to Smotrich's proposal.
