Deputy Minister of Religious Services, MK Matan Kahane, said this morning (Tuesday) on his Twitter account that a powerful struggle is underway against the women he appointed to manage religious councils. A service revolution in public transportation: Why is it now more profitable to travel? ""A powerful and shameful struggle is being waged against some of the women I appointed to religious council management positions. Miraculously, such a struggle is not being waged against any male appointee I appointed," Kahane said. "Yesterday I met with some of the women I appointed to management positions in the religious councils. This is a real revolution. Until I took office as Minister of Religious Services, a woman had never been appointed to the position of director of a religious council. Some of them shared with the forum the hardships they went through upon taking office. From instructions to employees not to cooperate with them, instructions coming directly from the head of the authority, to locking the offices and leaving the supervisor outside (also at the direction of the head of the authority) to harassment through false police complaints (the police arrived at one of the supervisors on Saturday at 6 am because a report was received that her husband was beating her...). In an interesting coincidence, this shameful struggle is being waged only against female supervisors. There are other places where the appointment was not to the full satisfaction of the head of the authority. In no place where I appointed a man did the heads of the authorities resort to such techniques. All the appointments I made in the past year were after careful examination and approval by the ministry's legal counsel. Throughout this year I did not deviate from the recommendations of the legal advice. The petitions that were rejected one after another will testify to this, which indicates the cleanliness of the appointment processes during my time. In places where they chose to cooperate with the women I appointed to the position, there is great satisfaction with their performance. Even in places where there was initially opposition to appointing a woman. These women are pioneers. They are paying a heavy price for this. I expressed to them the hope that in a few years people will have difficulty believing that this is the agony they went through to prove the obvious. Women can and should be an integral part of the religious services in the country.".
