On the occasion of the anniversary of the formation of the government, Bennett published a special letter today (Friday) in which he addressed the political situation, the government's achievements, and the attacks it is receiving from the right. "About a year ago, the State of Israel reached one of the most difficult lows it has ever known. Chaos, endless election cycles, government paralysis, the cities of Lod and Acre burning in the face of an embarrassed and conflicted government, worship of one man and the subjugation of the state's energy to his legal needs, terrible weakness in the face of a murderous enemy firing missiles at Jerusalem," Bennett wrote. "We were a few days away from going to a fifth election that would have dismantled the country, and then I made the most difficult and Zionist decision of my life: to form a national salvation government to rescue Israel from chaos and restore it to functioning. To join forces with people with very different opinions from mine in order to save the country. I knew that a powerful poison machine would be turned against me, and I took it upon myself to be the human protector of the State of Israel." He also referred to the most serious political crisis that befell his government - the resignation of MK Idit Silman from the coalition. Bennett claimed that she was "held captive by the people who ruined her life." According to him, "Even before the government was formed, an army of paid protesters on behalf of Netanyahu and Smotrich came to the homes of Ayelet Shaked, Idit Silman, Nir Orbach, and other members of my party. Idit and Shmulik Silman told me that Smotrich's people chased their children in the youth movement, in schools. Idit showed me a film of a car with loudspeakers chasing her car on the freeway, and told me about curses that all kinds of rabbis had heaped on them. ''Together with my colleagues in the government, we returned Israel to functioning and growth. These days, almost a year later, we, all citizens of Israel, are once again facing a historic crossroads: to continue forward with a functioning state or to regress back to chaos, internal hatred, external weakness, and the enslavement of the state to the needs of one man." In the letter, Bennett sharply attacked the opposition and claimed - contrary to all the polls - that the majority of the public is satisfied with his government: "On the field right now, only one side is operating - a noisy and deadly poison machine of Ben Gvir, Odeh, Netanyahu and Smotrich, which operates violence, extortion and a mass of 'fake news', while the silent majority that is happy about a calm and functioning government, is indeed silent and takes everything for granted. If we do not want to regress - we must all act. This letter is the call to action. "Dear citizens, the government was formed a year ago. And once again we are all facing a fateful moment - the continuation of the functioning of the state or a return to chaos. I have written to you here from the bottom of my heart to ask you, and my coalition partners, to act. I would be happy if you read the letter, distribute it, and most importantly - act.".
