A 19-year-old Haredi youth was seriously injured last night (Wednesday), shortly after 10:30 PM, in a car accident in Ashdod.

The young man, who was riding an electric scooter, was hit by a vehicle while driving on Bnei Brith Boulevard at the corner of Palmach. Rescue forces called to the scene provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, with multiple systemic injuries, while he was sedated and on a ventilator. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances. Paramedic on an MDA motorcycle, Yehuda Shoshana, said: "In the middle of the road we saw a crushed scooter and nearby was a young man about 19 years old lying unconscious. He suffered from multiple systemic injuries. We provided him with life-saving medical treatment and urgently evacuated him to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle, a man about 30 years old, did not require treatment." Dor Friedman, a United Hatzalah paramedic: "While riding the Openvalance, I encountered a traffic accident. With the assistance of other paramedics, we provided first aid to a 19-year-old electric scooter rider after he was injured in an accident involving a private vehicle. He was evacuated in an intensive care unit with multi-systemic injuries, and at this stage his condition is defined as serious and unstable."
