Bennett, who previously served as the CEO of the Yesha Council, has avoided coming to Judea and Samaria for the past year. Hundreds of right-wing activists demonstrated while visiting the local council - carrying signs: "Bennett will not sell Elkana to the Arabs" and "Settlement is not 'use and throw away'". They also chanted: "A government of terror is not in our region." According to the demonstrators, clashes with police forces were recorded during the protest. The head of the Red Line Protest headquarters, Yoel Shilo, who was among the demonstrators, said: "Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, as part of the launch of the election campaign, is trying to flatter the residents of Judea and Samaria after he has boycotted them so far, and sold the State of Israel to the Shura Council. We would expect someone who was the chairman of the Yesha Council to expand and build in the settlement. Bennett needs to understand that the public in the settlement says that he is not welcome here and that we will not allow him to sell Elkana and other settlements to Mansour Abbas and his friends." Oren Burt, a resident of Elkana who demonstrated against Bennett's visit, said on Radio 103: "I did not vote for Netanyahu, but for Bennett because they promised me a different right. I never imagined that Jerusalem would look like it did yesterday, and that the Prime Minister did not bother to visit and comfort them in 19 graves - this is not right-wing, this is not Zionism, this is not Judaism, and this is not Israeliness.".
