Violent riots developed this evening (Monday) in East Jerusalem, parallel to the funeral of a Hamas activist who disrupted order about a month ago on the Temple Mount while wearing a mask and threw stones at the forces - and later fell during his escape and was injured. Can you keep a secret? Solve an issue? We are looking for you for a prestigious position The rioter was seriously injured in the riots on the Temple Mount and died from his wounds in recent days. His body was released and his funeral this evening became a campaign of incitement against Israel. Hundreds of lawbreakers and violent rioters attempted to harm police forces and disrupted public order in the area, including throwing stones, blocks, heavy objects and bottles, as well as setting off fireworks. Footage of the riots shows fighters walking on Salah a-Din Street while objects are being thrown at them from the rooftops of houses. The violent riots occurred during and after the funeral, including at the cemetery itself, during which 6 police officers were slightly injured, two of whom were evacuated for medical treatment. In addition, the rioters damaged several vehicles and infrastructure and even injured a number of passersby in the area. The events escalated when a vehicle drove at high speed at a checkpoint towards Border Guard soldiers, hitting a passerby who was there. The soldiers carried out a suspect arrest procedure that included shooting at the vehicle's wheels, and arrested 5 suspects inside - three residents of Qalandia, a resident of Silwan, and a resident of the north. A total of 20 suspects were arrested in the activity. Additional arrests are expected later.
Police documentation of one of the arrests shows the arrest of a masked rioter who tried to escape the scene, but was arrested within a short time by police forces with the assistance and guidance of observers from the Jerusalem District Control Center. Additional arrests were made in a similar manner by criminalizing suspects who were recorded throwing stones and disrupting order.
