The chairman of the Public Security Committee, MK Merav Ben Ari, apologized today (Monday) to the members of the Kaduri family for the failure to investigate the murder of the family's parents - who were brutally murdered in their home by a Palestinian terrorist three and a half years ago.

Ben Ari told the family members: "I apologize on behalf of the state and the Knesset for the injustice you have been caused." During the special hearing held in the committee, at the request of MK Uri Maklev, Knesset members criticized the actions of the prosecution. MK Shikli said: "You trampled on an entire family. Shame! Shame! This is not the first time that you have been unable to say we were wrong. You should have taken a less smug approach." The focus of the hearing was the testimony of Bracha Kaduri, daughter-in-law of Yehuda and Tamar Kaduri, who recounted what the family members went through since they were accused of involvement in the incident in question. "To this day, we are in abject fear and distrust," she said. She recounted the police's stubborn refusal to close the case against the family members. "How can we stand by and know that there is a cloud of an open case and the answer is no." Bracha spoke of the severe humiliations she experienced during the interrogations - and her voice broke: "Humiliation and humiliation that are impossible to bear. They laughed at me for eating kosher. I felt like begging, just bring me a piece of bread, I can't hold myself together. They sent me to prison with nothing. The mere request for a piece of bread is an indescribable humiliation." She recounted the physical harm she suffered: "They took off my cover, they took off my skirt. They threw me a bag of dry bread and that's all I could eat. When the lawyer came to visit, I told them I couldn't go out like this with pants on and no cover. They told me: 'You don't want to, stay in your room.' It's impossible to describe the fears and the terrible feeling, what am I really here for? There's no one to voice the silent cry that we didn't do anything. No one believes. These feelings accompany us to this day.".

She added and described: "These are five children who took their parents away, children who still remember where they went, children who come back from school and hear rumors. There is no atonement for such a thing. This is psychological therapy for children. For what?" According to her, they were not even allowed to mourn the murder of their grandparents. "We were in terrible fear." The police also violated their duty as a female police officer to accompany her: "I had to lower my principles and stand in places where until now we have not been able to contain it. I can shout my scream, but there is no relief from the pain, fear and lack of trust in the systems. We grew up trusting in these systems, my father and my brothers served in the army, and we received a huge slap, and I have no words for what we are going through and the difficulty in containing it, and the difficulty I had in getting here.".
