The committee for the appointment of rabbis, headed by Minister of Religious Services Matan Kahane, met this morning (Sunday) via Zoom and unanimously approved the election of Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan as Director General of the Rabbinical Houses. The bathing season has opened: all the information and rules that bathers need Rabbi Ben Dahan has previously served as the Director General of the Rabbinical Courts, a position he is now returning to fill - in an appointment that was jointly decided upon by Minister Matan Kahane and Chief Rabbi Har"d Lau. Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef boycotted the discussion of the committee for the appointment of judges due to Kahane's presence. Minister Kahane praised Rabbi David Lau during the discussion - and said: "Chief Rabbi Lau is taking the courts to a great place." After the appointment was approved, the incoming Director General of the Courts spoke by phone with the President of the Grand Court, Har"d Lau, and thanked him for the appointment. The Chief Rabbi wished him success and divine assistance in his role, for the benefit of the Rabbinical Courts. Minister Kahane said: "Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan's rich experience in public service and in religious service mechanisms is what the Rabbinical Courts need now. The trust that Rabbi Eli is receiving from the Chief Rabbi, President of the Courts, Rabbi Lau, will bring a great blessing to the courts. I thank Rabbi David Malka, the outgoing CEO for all his work in the courts in recent years.'' Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan: ''I thank Minister Kahane, Chief Rabbi Rabbi Lau and the members of the committee for the trust they have placed in me. I accept this important mission with reverence and hope to elevate the courts to their rightful place.'' Rabbi Ben Dahan served as Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and a member of Knesset from the Jewish Home Party. Last January, Minister Kahane decided to appoint Rabbi Ben Dahan as Chairman of the Religious Council in Jerusalem, following the end of the term of the previous Chairman, Yehoshua Yishai.
