The mayor of Beersheba, Rubik Danilovich, is very concerned about the government and police's handling of the wave of terrorist attacks. In an interview with 103FM, the mayor said: "We've known better days. We look at the country that we all love. Very difficult attacks, even cases that I would define as massacres, there's no other word, and we see the public's outcry as well, and we, the heads of authorities, are trying to both calm down and try to find solutions as much as possible." He added: "I don't intend to give out grades to anyone, I really don't belong to any party, everyone respects me and I respect them. I don't feel like anyone is doing it to us on purpose, but there needs to be a wake-up call for the State of Israel. I always say the State of Israel and not this or that government or this or that person. Our country, in my opinion, is captive to a mistaken, anachronistic and outdated concept. If we don't wake up and shake ourselves up, we could find ourselves in a bad situation." He warned: "I fear for the fate of this country, not only because of the security situation we have found ourselves in. I think this country does not understand that it needs to start making decisions. If it is by starting to renew and rehabilitate the Israel Police. "There are wonderful people in the police, they really work around the clock, but this whole incident is too big for the police, it cannot do it alone, and if we continue with the same things, with the same tools, a little more of the same, we will not be able to deal with issues that are becoming very central." The mayor of Beersheba emphasized: "The Negev constitutes over 60% of the territory of the State of Israel, less than 9% of the population of Israel lives there. We as a country are taking a sober view - if we do not change the trend - to establish two states here. In 2050, God willing, the State of Israel will have over 16 million citizens. About 75% of them will live in Greater Tel Aviv, the Dan Bloc, Greater Jerusalem, a little in the Negev, a little in the Galilee, but for the first time in the Negev there will be no Jewish majority. What did our founding generation fight for in the partition plan? Why did we want the Negev so much?" Danilovich also addressed Bedouin society in the Negev: "The sane majority among the Bedouin population wants to belong to the state, but even within Bedouin society there are two societies - those who are children of Gazan and Haborian mothers, and what can be done? You have to call the child by his name, they do not recognize the State of Israel, they also do not speak Hebrew. "We want the same deterrence of a state of law, by the way, towards everyone. There are not enough police officers, everyone knows that, the Shin Bet must start getting involved in the Israeli civilian sector as well, because there is no choice. The police must be reinvented. When we were little children there was a longing to dress up as a policeman, it was a figure to admire, to emulate. "The police are not the problem - the police are the solution, but they throw everything at it. It lacks about 6,000-7,000 police officers. Maybe we need to start establishing one comprehensive factor, a national security guard - something completely different that encompasses all the systems. I'm not calling on everyone to start carrying weapons, no, but I think more and more citizens are doing so, like we did in Be'er Sheva since what happened here. We have over 300 volunteers in what's called the neighborhood guard. Good people who took responsibility upon themselves and in the evening they patrol each person's own neighborhood.".
