The building serves as a small yeshiva, Talmud Torah, and a synagogue for weekdays. Chabad Hasidim prayed in this building during the communist regime, and it was the beit midrashim of the Chabad gaon Rabbi Aharon Tumarkin zt"l. Damage was caused to the place, but no injuries were reported. At the end of last week, several of the windows of the city's large synagogue were shattered by a missile that exploded in a nearby mall. Rabbi Moshe Moskowitz, Chief Rabbi of Kharkiv and Chabad emissary: "In recent years, God-fearing young men have come out of this building, who have founded families of Torah and mitzvot followers, who today serve as emissaries of Chabad.
""Despite the shelling of our institutions - the direct damage to the yeshiva, the damage to the windows of the synagogue and the kindergarten - at the first opportunity we will build, renovate, and strengthen all institutions, and expand all operations with all our might.
""We continue to evacuate the Jewish community from the city while simultaneously providing shelter, food, and medicine to the remaining Jews.".
