What do you do when you encounter a mountain lion while hiking in the wilderness? Well, the National Park Service in the United States recommends that hikers roar at the threat.
In a short video taken on January 8 in California and posted on social media by a hiker, the man is seen walking towards a large lake, when he suddenly turns around and notices a mountain lion, also known as an "American lion," three meters away from him. In the video, the hiker is seen screaming in terror when he spots it - and retreating back at a run. The cougar emerges from the bushes and gallops towards him. After a few seconds of running, the hiker turns around, roars loudly at it and manages to scare it away. Then what happened? It returns to the bushes and disappears from sight. The cougar that chased the hiker is apparently a small mountain lion cub. The hiker shared the video and wrote: "A cougar ambushed me. I ran and scared it away with a roar at the last minute."
