The ministry also attacked Ichilov Hospital for publishing the post on the medical center's social media accounts.

""While the health system is investing a tremendous effort to protect public health and save lives, vocal elements are emerging, including doctors, who are creating irresponsible discourse aimed at eroding public trust," the Ministry of Health's Telegram page reads.

""Even in the fight against the Omicron strain, the Ministry of Health is acting professionally and with discretion in order to protect public health, while maintaining the economy, education, culture, and, as much as possible, a normal life alongside the coronavirus.".

""Prof. Matot's proposal not to test a large portion of those infected, thereby allowing the disease to spread more rapidly and widely, is unacceptable to the Ministry of Health. The policy proposed by Prof. Matot could lead to serious harm to at-risk groups, an increase in the number of seriously ill patients, and mortality.".

“Tell me, have we gone crazy?” Prof. Matot called for a change in the isolation policy

The ministry added: "Unfortunately, Prof. Matot's conduct, and the language in which she chose to express her criticism, raise concerns that the desire for publicity sometimes outweighs responsibility. In addition, it should be noted that using the official page of a government hospital for the purpose of expressing a personal position is improper and prohibited. The health system in Israel is working tirelessly against the wave of severe morbidity, with discretion and responsibility, in an effort to preserve public health and economic activity. Those who do not want to help - let them not interfere.".
