The decision will take effect tonight at midnight, subject to approval by the government and the Knesset's Constitution Committee. The Ministry of Health's recommendation was received in light of the policy defined in advance by the government, according to which the red country mechanism will be suspended in a situation where the number of verified people entering from abroad drops below 51% of the total morbidity in the country. The countries that will be removed from the list of red countries and moved to orange: United Arab Emirates, USA, Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Tanzania, Mexico, Switzerland and Turkey. Despite the change in the mechanism for defining countries, it should be noted that in many countries in the world the morbidity situation is higher than in Israel, and therefore it is advisable to avoid unnecessary travel to these places as much as possible.
Returnees from an orange country:
• Vaccinated or recovering – will be able to leave isolation after receiving a negative test result at Ben Gurion Airport or after 24 hours (whichever comes first). • Those who are not vaccinated or recovering – will be able to leave isolation only after receiving two negative test results – upon landing and after a week of isolation.
