Tragedy in the Southern City: A five-month-old baby girl, born to a family from the Haredi community, died this evening (Monday) after earlier today she did not wake up from an afternoon nap with her caregiver on Hiel Hayam Street in the city of Netivot. United Hatzalah medical teams that were called to the scene performed CPR on the baby, who lost consciousness while she was with the caregiver - and evacuated her in critical condition to Soroka Hospital, while the medical teams performed CPR on her. She was taken to the hospital's emergency medical center, where doctors fought for her life - but were ultimately forced to declare her dead. The background to the incident is still unclear at this stage. Yoad Antebi, a United Hatzalah paramedic: "With the assistance of additional paramedics and the intensive care unit team, we performed prolonged CPR on the toddler, who, according to what we were told, did not wake up from her afternoon nap. "She was then evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, while CPR continued in critical condition.".
