The infection rate was 1.26 this morning, a decrease of 0.02 from yesterday. The number of active carriers in Israel stands at 8,637 people, of whom 80 are hospitalized in serious condition and 38 are on ventilators. This is a decrease in the number of seriously ill patients compared to the past week. It should be noted that there is no increase in the number of seriously ill patients and the number of those on ventilators. At the same time, the number of people who have died from the epidemic so far stands at 8,235 people. In the past week, 6,167 new confirmed cases were diagnosed, an increase of 47.9% compared to the week before. The National Information and Knowledge Center for the Corona Campaign of the IDF Intelligence Directorate (AMI) announced yesterday that the omicron wave has begun in Israel. The report published by the department states: "In recent weeks, an increase in morbidity has been identified, across ages, authorities and sectors. In recent days, the increase has been significant and reflects the beginning of the fifth wave in Israel - the Omicron wave, while alongside it the Delta strain continues to produce outbreaks throughout the country." Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health's Corona Control Center, in cooperation with the Azrieli Malls chain and Ofer Malls (from Lisron), are embarking on a large-scale vaccination campaign for the entire population today. As part of the campaign in the malls, complexes will be opened to the general public in order to make the vaccines accessible.
