""Indeed, lately I have been dealing with cancer. I am being treated well and in good hands. After all, the burden is heavy, we are soul, flesh and blood, people are fragile, even if strong," Hirsch wrote. He added: "Thank you very much to everyone for the love, warmth and concern. I will pray for a full recovery and I will be stronger on this front as well." Hirsch's associates announced on Tuesday that he is seriously ill and asked to pray for his speedy recovery. His name is Gal Ben Rachel. Hirsch served as commander of the Shaldag unit, commander of the 1st Battalion, and commander of the Galilee Division in the Second Lebanon War. He later served as deputy commander of the Deep Command. In 2015, he was the candidate of the then Minister of Public Security, Gilad Erdan, for the position of Police Commissioner - but various accusations directed at him caused him to withdraw from the appointment.
