Because of this, the detectives requested to examine it. During the inspection of the vehicle, the detectives located numerous archaeological items in the possession of the suspects sitting in the vehicle - two residents of East Jerusalem and a Palestinian. A professional examination by the Antiquities Authority personnel identified the items as exhibits from the Bar Kokhba Revolt period and from the Roman and Byzantine periods. The suspects were transferred to the police station for further investigative processing, in cooperation with the Antiquities Robbery Prevention Unit at the Antiquities Authority - who received the items. This is the second case in recent days in which police officers and detectives from the Jerusalem District of the police have located illegally held archaeological items. Earlier this week, detectives from the central unit located archaeological items that are thousands of years old in the possession of an East Jerusalem resident, in his thirties, including a Hasmonean coin from the period of Mattathias Antigonus, on which is a relief of the Temple menorah, a signet ring from the biblical period with an inscription in ancient Hebrew script - and an oil lamp from the Hasmonean period.
