Volunteers who arrived at the scene identified the suspect and began following him. After about half an hour of surveillance, the suspect was spotted trying to break into a side door of a clothing store located in the area. After he managed to break through the door, he went inside, locking the store door behind him. The volunteers who were waiting at the scene immediately contacted the store owner, who remained on call with the volunteers, and reported to them that he did indeed see the burglar walking around the store and stealing money from the cash registers. Additional volunteers who were called to the scene began scanning the nearby buildings and streets to locate observers and prevent the suspect from escaping. The volunteers also deployed to the store building, which spans 4 floors. After a few minutes, when the store owner arrived, he opened it for the volunteers to enter and detain the suspect. After a search of more than 20 minutes, the burglar was located hiding under a pile of suits on the third floor, with a bag containing 35,000 NIS in cash and gloves. The suspect - a 25-year-old resident of Elad - confessed to the crimes and was detained at the scene by the organization's volunteers until police arrived. Detectives from the Dan District who arrived at the scene arrested the suspect and took him to the police station. A decision will be made later on whether to bring him before a judge for the purpose of extending his detention. The owner of the place, who closely monitored the volunteers' activities via security cameras, thanked the dozens of volunteers who worked for about an hour, striving to make contact with the burglar, while emphasizing the usefulness of the "Guards" volunteers in the city.
