The Likud party responded this evening (Saturday night) to Amnon Abramovich's remarks on Channel 12's "Ulpan Shishi," in which he said that the meeting between Prime Minister Bennett and Russian President Putin lasted five hours, while Netanyahu had to wait for the Russian leader for three hours before their meeting. The party attacked the commentator, saying: "There is no limit to the lies that Amnon Abramovich tells in his role as Naftali Bennett's court propagandist against Benjamin Netanyahu.".

The party statement added: "Yesterday this propaganda reached its ridiculous peak. Abramovich said that Putin gave preferential treatment to Bennett because during one of Prime Minister Netanyahu's visits to Moscow, Putin was unusually late for a meeting. So judge for yourself: The Russian President met with Prime Minister Netanyahu dozens of times for long meetings that lasted many hours. They met in Moscow, Sochi, Paris and Jerusalem. The two spoke on the phone nearly 80 times. In these meetings and conversations, Putin responded to Prime Minister Netanyahu's request to refrain from interfering in Israel's air operations in Syria. He also responded to another request by the Prime Minister to send special forces of the Russian army to bring the body of the late Zechariah Baumel to Israel at their own risk. In the same way, he also responded to Prime Minister Netanyahu's special request to release Naama Issachar and return her to Israel. Putin has hosted Prime Minister Netanyahu countless times for gala dinners in the Kremlin, as well as at his private residence in the Moscow suburbs and in Sochi. Prime Minister Netanyahu was one of only two world leaders that Putin invited in 2018 as a guest of honor to an event marking the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, and even went to the trouble of having the Anthem of Hope played in Red Square on this emotional occasion. Putin also invited the Prime Minister and his wife to the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the renewal of relations between Russia and Israel. On this occasion, he spent 10 straight hours with the Prime Minister, including a special event at the Bolshoi Theater where Russian and Israeli songs were sung, with Putin sitting with the Prime Minister and his wife in the box of honor and watching the show throughout. Putin also invited Prime Minister Netanyahu during the World Cup finals there. During Prime Minister Netanyahu's term, Putin made four visits to Israel and was hosted several times at the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem for festive dinners that the Prime Minister and his wife held in his honor. Putin even emphasized that his cooperation with Netanyahu prevented a military clash between Israel and Russia." The Likud continued to sharply attack the left-wing commentator: "Abramovich is desperate. The ridiculous lies he tells about Prime Minister Netanyahu, as well as the many other absurd things he says that serve a clear political line against the right, have no meaning. Abramovich has long since ceased to be a commentator or journalist. He is a propagandist." The Likud commented on Bennett's turning his back on Putin at the beginning of the meeting: "And speaking of something ridiculous, how can we ignore what happened at Bennett's meeting with Putin? Bennett was primarily concerned with the presence of the Israeli media and turned his back on Putin while the Russian president's outstretched hand hung in the air until Bennett was forced to turn to him. "Not exactly diplomacy at its best. This is a bizarre spectacle that Abramovich, of course, ignored.".
