''Dangerous government': Israel approves regularization of status for 4,000 Palestinians in Judea and Samaria

In addition, a change of address will be possible for 2,800 Palestinians - registered in the Palestinian Population Registry, who were born in the Gaza Strip and moved to live in the territories of Judea and Samaria before Hamas took control of the Strip in 2007, but their original address was not changed on their identity cards, and as a result, their movements in Judea and Samaria were restricted and their presence there was illegal.

The recognition of the residency status of thousands of Palestinians who have lived in Judea and Samaria for years will allow them from now on to pass through crossings, move between the PA's territories and abroad, and apply for a work permit in Israel or for medical treatment in Israel.

יצוין, כי לא מדובר בפלסטינים המתגוררים בחוץ לארץ שייכנסו עתה ליו"ש, כחלק מאיחוד משפחות, ולא מדובר בגידול של האוכלוסייה הפלסטינית ביהודה ושומרון אלא בהסדרת מעמדה של אוכלוסייה קיימת שכבר נמצאת שם שנים רבות. במשרד הביטחון אמרו: "כל הבקשות שאושרו - הינן על רקע הומניטארי. כל בקשה נבחנת באופן יסודי ותאושר בכפוף לאישור ביטחוני של גורמי הביטחון הרלוונטיים בישראל. בכלל המקרים מדובר בפלסטינים הנמצאים מזה שנים ארוכות ביהודה ושומרון".

MK Bezalel Smotrich responded: "Ten degrees to the right to the post-Zionist era. This government is irresponsible and dangerous for the future of the State of Israel.".
