Volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda Rescue Unit rescued a hiker who was trapped in a cistern near the settlement of Tekoa in the Gush Etzion area today (Tuesday). Volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda Rescue Unit rescued the hiker, a 19-year-old resident of Netanya, who was trapped while diving in a cistern. The hiker was trapped in a cistern about five meters high, with 1.60 meters of water, for over two hours - without being able to get out. The hiker's friends called the Etzion-Yehuda Rescue Unit, and the unit's volunteers arrived at the scene with a narrow ladder, using which the hiker was safely rescued. After being rescued, the hiker was checked by the unit's volunteers and the Jerusalem MDA team to rule out hypothermia. He continued independently with his friends. [Gallery]
