The chairman of the United Torah Judaism faction, MK Yitzhak Pindros, spoke this morning (Wednesday) with Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal on their program on 103FM - against the backdrop of the establishment of the left-wing government. "We are going into opposition with our heads held high and our feet erect," Pindros began. "Everyone knows that there were proposals of this and that, and we refused. The issue is not opposition or coalition. Agreements were announced the other day whose practical meaning is the complete crushing and abolition of the status quo in the State of Israel. "Not erosion, not minor or significant changes, but a total crushing of the entire issue of the status quo. When you see an agreement like this, while a religious person is at the head of the system, agreement after agreement - Yisrael Beiteinu, Labor, Meretz, Blue and White - you say to yourself: 'The people just fell on their heads.'".
Afterwards, he claimed that he and Gafni "requested a state investigation committee from Netanyahu" regarding the disaster on Mount Meron in which 45 people lost their lives. When confronted with the claim that Yamina has a veto right on matters of religion and state, and will not dare to change them - he replied: "Yamina with 6 seats" In total, its coalition strength is meager.
Pindaros said at the end of his remarks that he received "suggestions that Gafni remain on the Finance Committee and we said no. The original plan until the day before yesterday was to be a substantive opposition, we did not intend to attack but to let this business happen. But what happened were the agreements that were published the day before yesterday, which essentially shattered the status quo in the State of Israel, and this does not concern the Haredim at all, because they live according to religion regardless.".
