Dream state? A police officer who received a medal of merit for eliminating a terrorist in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem about 6 years ago was questioned with a warning about two weeks ago, at the direction of the Attorney General, on suspicion of negligently causing the death of the terrorist. This was reported this evening (Wednesday) by Moshe Steinmetz on Kan News.
Dreaming of money falling from the sky? Tomorrow night at midnight the safe opens
In October 2015, the 19-year-old terrorist carried out a stabbing attack at the HaNevi'im-Choil Handesa intersection in Jerusalem and moderately injured a Jew who was passing by. The policeman, then a detective in the Jerusalem Police Department, arrived at the scene and eliminated the terrorist. For this activity, he was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Jerusalem District Commander at the time, Moshe (Chico) Edri. The certificate states: "Upon arriving at the scene, the policeman got out of his vehicle, identified the terrorist, fired a shot and neutralized him. In this action, he prevented a greater disaster and demonstrated determination, professionalism and courage." After the incident, the State Attorney was asked to order an investigation into the shooting of the terrorist, claiming that he did not pose a life-threatening threat at the time he was shot - but he decided not to do so.
An appeal filed against the decision was only recently accepted by the Attorney General, six years after the incident, and he ordered an investigation of the police officer.
From the Ministry of Justice It was stated: "Regarding the incident in question, an appeal was filed with the Attorney General against the then State Attorney's decision not to open an investigation. After examining the case, it was decided to collect statements from the officers who shot. Upon completion of the investigation, a reasoned decision will be made." The officer's attorney, Attorney Itzik Cohen, He responded: "At a time when Israeli police are dealing with widespread riots and attempted attacks, the Police Department found it appropriate to investigate a police officer who neutralized an armed terrorist and even received a certificate of merit for his performance in the incident, which occurred about 6 years ago. I hope the Police Department will admit its mistake and close the investigation file as soon as possible.".
MK Amichai Shikli Maimina responded to the Attorney General's decision to order an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department against the police officer: "At this time, the Attorney General's decision indicates a complete disconnect from reality. An unfortunate decision that points out for the thousandth time the serious and deep disease in our legal system, which, sadly, is dominated in large parts by a distinctly post-Zionist worldview.".
